Cybersecurity Resources
Cybersecurity guidance written for businesses that have to deal with it rather than for security researchers. The focus is on what actually causes losses in ordinary organisations, and on the obligations that are arriving whether or not anyone has budgeted for them.
Two things are changing at once for Irish and European businesses. NIS2 is pushing formal cybersecurity duties into sectors that never had them, and it is reaching companies through customer contracts well ahead of national law. At the same time, the systems that used to sit safely on their own - cameras, alarms, access control - are now on the network and are frequently the weakest thing on it.
What this section covers
- NIS2: whether it applies to you, and why contracts may bind you before the law does
- Securing networked CCTV, intruder alarm and access control systems
- Phishing and business email compromise, which is where the money actually goes
- Backups and ransomware recovery that survive contact with a real incident
Who it is for
Business owners and managers, IT and technical staff, and security installers whose work now puts networked devices into other people’s buildings. No security background is assumed.
A note on scope
This is guidance rather than a compliance service. Where an obligation depends on your sector, your size or your contracts, the article says so and points at what to check rather than pretending there is a single answer.
